Rethymno

Rethymno is the third biggest city of Crete, located on the north coast of the island. The picturesque old town, the Venetian Harbor with the small fishing boats  the historic lighthouse that was built in the 1830s and the hilltop of Fortezza, the 16th-century fortress are some of the places that make Rethymno what it is.  Long, sandy Rethymno beach stretches to the east for more than 7 kilometres making it one of the longest coastlines of Greece. On the south part of Rethymno prefecture travellers can find unique beautiful beaches like Preveli or tiny peninsulas with crystal clear blue water like Skinaria.
